- Annual Public Tour
Each summer members from all around the metro open their gardens for the public to view. WGSGKC uses the proceeds from the ticket sales to fund community service projects and other educational activities. Many of these projects are to benefit schools or the Kansas City Zoo.
- Member Meetings
Monthly member meetings are held 6:30-8:30 pm every third Tuesday (doors open at 5pm), September through May, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (see map) 2552 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, MO 64108. For more information, see the current issue of our Reflections newsletter.
- Member Only Tours
Throughout the summer, on Sunday afternoons, different members in geographic areas of the metro invite all members to tour their water gardens. Information regarding these tours can be found in the Reflections newsletter, Facebook and the Members Only section.
- Member Only Plant Exchange
Each May WGSGKC holds a plant exchange for members. Members with an abundance of plants bring them for the exchange. All members can participate in the exchange. The exchange allows members to increase the variety of plants in their gardens.
- Home Shows
WGSGKC members share their enthusiasm for water gardening and information for the public as it builds a variety of water gardens and water features at metro home and garden shows.
- Community Service
- Kansas City Zoo ponds
- Pond and ecosystems at area schools
- Educational programs
- Water garden rescues
- Community ponds, such as ICANN, Hope-Faith Ministries
- Fish Rescue
WGSGKC members have formed a Fish Rescue team which is able to assist with the collection and adoption of fish needing a new home. The team has assisted relocating pond life from estates, home sales and from people no longer able to care for their ponds. Pond life rescued is donated to our community service ponds as well as adopted by members who have expressed interest in being notified when pond life is in need of a home.
